Tom Brosnahan

Tom Brosnahan is a veteran guidebook author, travel writer and photographer, website developer and consultant on travel information to companies and government agencies.

 

Tom has written over 40 guidebooks for Lonely Planet, Berlitz and Frommer's covering Belize, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Guatemala, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, New England, Tunisia and Turkey, with nearly four million copies in print worldwide in more than 10 languages. He's also written a humorous travel memoir, Turkey: Bright Sun, Strong Tea, published in August 2004.

He has been a Contributing Editor to Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine, and has had many articles and photographs published in leading periodicals including Travel and Leisure, The New York Times, the Daily Telegraph (London), Chicago Tribune, New York Daily News, BBC World, Journeys, Odyssey, Travel Life, and TWA Ambassador.

He is the founder of the Travel Info Exchange, Turkey Travel Planner and New England Travel Planner websites, and also TravelWebsitePlanner.com, OptimizedHypertext.com and even YummyPies.com.

Tom has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including ABC's Good Morning America, NPR's Talk of the Nation, Anthem, The Connection, and on the Travel Channel; and has lectured at the Smithsonian Institution, the Cooper-Hewitt National Museum of Design, the American Turkish Council, and other organizations.

He is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, the Authors Guild, and the Society of American Travel Writers. He is a co-founder and faculty member of the SATW Institute for Travel Writing and Photography, where he specializes in website design, and business and contract issues.

He lives in Concord, Massachusetts, with his wife Jane A Fisher, MBA (Harvard), Principal of Cambridge-Concord Associates, a strategic planning and organizational management consultancy. They have one child.
