A 105-room summer/winter holiday chateau worthy of the Emperor of All the Russias, the Carlton was just that: built in 1913 for Czar Nicholas II, it has the ambience of a sumptuous but tasteful family home rather than of a jet-set hotel. High on a sunny hill with spectacular views, the Carlton is utterly luxurious, but also comfortable and congenial, and only a short walk from the center of activity in St Moritz.
